Children Ministry

Preschool, Sunday School Take Home (Week starting Apr 5, 2026)

To parents:

This page lets you know what your child learned today in Sunday School. Included are “Words to Remember” from the Bible, a suggested activity to reinforce the lesson, and a short prayer. Being involved and interacting with your child can be very rewarding for both of you.

WHAT WE LEARNED

Today, your child learned about the time Jesus died on the cross. The events that took place on that day may be difficult for young children to understand, but at the same time, it is important to know that Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Your child also learned the need to be sorry for the times he or she sins and to ask for God’s forgiveness. (Scripture used: Matthew 27:11-44, Mark 15:1-41, Luke 23:1-49, John 18:28- 19:37)

WORDS TO REMEMBER

(Bible versions used are selected to help young children learn and understand the meaning of the scripture.)

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them’” Luke 23:34a NIV

Practice this verse several times with your child during the week. This will help your child remember the verse, and it will also help to reinforce what he or she learned during class.

SUGGESTED PARENT/CHILD ACTIVITY

Talk with your child about the time Jesus died on the cross for all of us. Read the story together from the Bible. Answer any questions your child may have along the way. Discuss why God would send His son to die on a cross, and why Jesus had to give up his life because of our sins. More specifically, talk about sin in your child’s life; make sure he or she understands the meaning of forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness and saying sorry to God are huge steps for a young child, but it is important to start doing so at an early age.

DAILY PRAYER

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me so much You sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me for all of my sins, and help me when I am tempted to do something that is wrong in Your eyes. Let me be a good example to others so they might see You in my life. Amen.
